This is our ninth annual Diamond report, representing almost a decade of industry-wide commitment to measuring, understanding and improving diversity in UK broadcasting.

Alongside our annual reports, we have produced a number of influential deep-dive studies on writers and directors, disability, and race, creating one of the most comprehensive evidence bases on representation in the sector. Find the reports here.

This report provides updated statistics for programmes broadcast across the Diamond channels between 1 January and 31 December 2025.

Over those 12 months, we collected 65,000 completed diversity forms relating to more than 1.4 million TV production contributions. Around one third of people who received a diversity form completed it.

Contributions are like a programme credit. Each programme contribution is assigned the diversity characteristics of the individual who made that contribution. A single contribution relates to a transmission of a single programme or episode.

CDN currently focuses its reporting on contributions. This enables us to explore the extent of the impact that people with different diversity characteristics are having across TV production.

Diamond collects data on:

• UK original productions commissioned by BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Paramount, Sky, and UKTV and transmitted on linear television. Lumo TV also collect data but due to a reporting fault, our technical supplier was unable to include and provide this to CDN in time for the 2025 report.

• All genres (excluding Sport and News).

• More than 100 on and off-screen TV production roles.

This 2025 report includes findings about the age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identityand sexual orientation of cast and crew. Later in the year we will publish reports about religion and socio-economic diversity.

We benchmark our data against national population estimates for on-screen roles, and against workforce estimates for off-screen roles.
